What?

Hi!

Fikartoon is a web-comic that lauds a select group of individuals who once called IIT Madras their home. Occasionally it jeers at them too. Their endless indulgence in activities gave birth to an even bigger repository of digital images. And, yes you guessed it, thence came Fikartoon.

Here you will find strips that bring out the humour and magic that those select individuals practiced. So a word of caution - if you were not a part of the great times they shared, Fikartoons may appear to be utterly irrelevant. In such moments, try moving to the next strip in the series, or jump to a random selection. Eventually, this place will provide you what you came here for - comic satisfaction.

The Name

There are two ways to pronounce the second syllable - with a ka sound and with a kaa sound. It is advisable to go with the former. The reason? Well, most of the characters featured on this website share a common platform, the name of which is reflected each time the ka sound is used. And that would be a fitting tribute.

The Colours

The obvious choice of colour for the theme would have been pink. But as is evident from Fikartoon 3, that would have been a dangerous idea.

The cartoonist's earliest fascination with pigment based colours was limited to a box of 24 colour tubes. One of the colours that he didn't particularly like was Yellow Ochre. The poor shade yelped for acceptance. As time flew, he learnt more than to hate colours. And in order to make amends for the past, he chose to use Yellow Ochre as one of the defining colours of Fikartoon. The other prominent shade, Brick Red, was created to accompany Yellow Ochre. It has a story too, but it's hardly interesting.
